Lucille has put away the winter clothes she wore in Lucille's Snowsuit (Crown, 2000) and can't wait to wear the lovely tutu grandma has sent her for her fourth birthday. Her older sister and brother, Frances and Franklin, tease the little piglet, who remains undaunted in her determination to put on a birthday performance. At last the big day arrives and Lucille twirls, "pirouettes," says Frances; and stands on one leg, "An arabesque," announces mother. The music stops and everyone claps for the birthday ballerina. Tired and content, Lucille falls asleep dreaming about her day. Delightful, whimsical watercolor illustrations chronicle the further adventures of this preschool pig and her family.
